Terms and privacy

Behalf is a personal assistant you text on WhatsApp. It acts on your behalf, and only with your yes. Here is what that means, and what happens to your information.

Nothing happens without your yes

• Before Behalf sends, books, calls or agrees to anything, it shows you exactly what it will do.
• A yes only counts when it answers that exact request: reply to its message, or send the code it gives you. A plain “yes” on its own never approves anything.
• Phone calls, payments and filling in forms are only ever approved on the website, while signed in. If you only use WhatsApp, send SIGN IN and your email, and Behalf emails you a link to sign in.
• You can say “not now” to anything. Behalf won’t agree to an offer or a change for you without asking.

It’s an AI, and it says so

Behalf is software, not a person. When it calls someone for you, it says it’s an AI calling on your behalf. It can make mistakes, so check what it shows you before you say yes.

What Behalf keeps

• Your number and the messages you exchange with Behalf, so it can reply and keep the thread.
• What it learns about you (for example your city or how you like to travel), each with where it came from. You can see, correct or erase any of it, and erasing removes the copies too.
• Email and calendar, only if you connect Google. Behalf can read them; sending an email or adding an event always waits for your yes. Disconnecting Google deletes the copies made from it.
• A record of what was done: what you approved, when, and the result, so you can always check.
• On the waitlist, just your number or email, so we can tell you when it’s your turn. Reply STOP and we delete it and never message you again.

Who processes it

Messages travel through WhatsApp and Twilio. Behalf’s language model runs on Microsoft Azure OpenAI. Email we send you (sign-in links, invites) goes through Amazon SES. We don’t sell your information or use it for advertising.

Your controls

• STOP in WhatsApp stops messages. HELP always answers.
• On the website you can see what Behalf remembers, export it, erase it, and disconnect Google.
• Ask us to delete your account and we will, apart from the minimal record the law requires us to keep.

Early access

Behalf is free while it’s in early access, and features may change or stop. Please use it only for calls and messages you’re allowed to make.
